Hey! A while ago some friends of ours hosted a medieval dress-up party. I thought it would be fun just post some pictures to show you what our costumes looked like.

Haha, don't worry, it's just grape juice.

We had a lot of fun with the knives, and the swords!

Above are my two beautiful twin sisters.

As you can see, we had tons of fun dressing up, and pretending we lived during that time period!

Happy 2014! Wow, I can't believe it's here!

Maybe you have seen the Doctor Seuss quote: "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
The year 2013 was an amazing year! So many great things happened this year, as well as several sad things, but hey, that's life.. right? Anyway, I can't wait to see what God will do in this coming year!

Homemade Christmas Ornaments

It's Christmas time! :) This year, I've had trouble getting into the Christmas spirit... and today, it finally hit! We put our Christmas tree up, made goodies, strung popcorn, made ornament, and listened to Christmas music! How could you not get into the holiday when all of that is going on around you?? :P Today I wanted to share some of our homemade ornaments. Yes, we do buy some... but I think homemade ornaments are so much cuter - and hey, they're cheaper too!

The above 4 are made out of felt. I personally think that felt ornaments are adorable!

And of course, I can't make ornaments without doing something Doctor Who. ;) I really messed up on the TARDIS.. but oh well, if you squint really hard... :P

These three are just cute ones that we have made in the past. The paper ornaments are super easy and fun to make.

Hope you enjoyed looking at these, and you are encouraged to make ornaments of your own, either for your own tree or for gifts!

Middle Earth Costumes!

I don't know about you, but I am a pretty big Lord of the Rings fan... which also means that I like The Hobbit movies! Er, at least the two that are out so far. ;)

Last night, or, this morning, at midnight, however you want to say it, my siblings, and several of my friends went to see The Desolation of Smaug. I won't give any spoilers, but I just want to say that I was thoroughly impressed and I thought it was better than The Hobbit. We also all had a great time hanging out with our friends at the pre-party and at the theater while we waited for the movie to start... and mooched off of those who bought popcorn. ;)

Today, I just wanted to share pictures of some of our costumes.

For our Hobbit costumes we chose the traditional hobbit skirts, semi-puffed sleeves, and vests.

The two above pictures are my costume.

The Hobbit girls primping before we left for the theater.

I decided to include two pictures of us at the theater with some friends we met up with.

Dressing up as movie/book characters is a great way to be creative and have fun at the same time! :)

Geeky Galaxy Skirt

Hey! I thought I would share my latest creation with y'all. :) A few weeks ago we were at a yard sale, and I saw a galaxy print bed sheet. It so reminded me of Doctor Who.. which, I am a huge (Oh, wait, did I mention HUGE!) Doctor Who fan. Turns out, the sheet was only $1.. so I bought it in hopes of making a skirt.. and make a skirt I did!

I love how full it is. This is my favorite skirt style!
I was also pleased that it matched my DW shirt. :)

I really encourage you to look for cheap fabric (or sheets!) to be creative with. And anyways, if you buy fabric used, it's already worn in and it's 10x more comfortable to wear. :)

Hello Out There!

Hello! My name is Rachel, I'm 15, and I'm a homeschooled nerd who loves being creative. I love to write, sew, cook, make music, and lots more! I really like vintage anything, and sometimes I truly believe that I was supposed to be born in another century... But I know God put me in this one for a reason. :)
